You can absolutely ship your bike yourself using BikeFlights! It's as easy as setting up a free account, learning how to take off your wheels, disassembling certain components on your bike and packing it for shipping following carrier policies.

You're welcome to call the shop to see if we have any bike shipping boxes available. These are the boxes we receive inventory in and they are available for free.

Many airlines now consider bicycles "sports equipment" and will allow them as checked luggage. Policies and fees vary by airline but generally the following applies:

You can travel with 1 non-motorized touring, mountain, tandem, or racing bicycle if the:

Bicycle is in a hard-sided case, bicycle bag or box built for bicycle transport.

Handlebars are fixed sideways

Pedals are removed; or

Pedals and handlebars are wrapped in plastic foam or a similar material

Standard checked bag fees of your destination apply up to 50 lbs / 23 kgs and standard overweight fee applies over 50 lbs / 23 kgs to 70 lbs / 32 kgs.
